The Inner Circle Route

Wi‑Fi and router help, delivered.

Wi‑Fi problems are rarely mysterious once someone walks the house with you. I find where the signal drops and why, fix the settings or placement, set up new equipment if it’s needed, and leave you a one-page note of the network name, where things are plugged in, and what to do if it acts up again.

Who it’s for

Is this you?

This is for anyone whose internet works in one corner of the house and gives up everywhere else, or whose connection quietly gets worse every evening.

  • There’s a dead zone in the bedroom, the garage or the back office.
  • Video calls freeze or streaming buffers.
  • You have a new router or provider box and don’t know how to set it up.
  • You’re not sure who or what is connected to your network.

What a visit covers

What happens when I show up.

01

Walk the house

We test the signal where you actually use it, room by room, instead of guessing from the router’s spot.

02

Fix the cause

Router placement, band and channel settings, old firmware, and cables that aren’t seated well.

03

Set up new gear

A new router, mesh system or extender, named and password-protected, on your account and not someone else’s.

04

See who’s connected

We identify the devices, remove the ones you don’t recognize, and add a guest network for visitors.

05

Tidy the basics

Change default passwords, write the network name and password down where you’ll find it, and label the box.

06

Test it again

Before I leave we repeat the checks we started with, so you can see the difference for yourself.

What to have ready

  • The modem or router and any extenders, plugged in and reachable.
  • Your internet provider’s name and account login, if you have it.
  • A list of the rooms where Wi‑Fi is worst.
  • Any new equipment, still in the box with its instructions.
  • A rough idea of what connects: phones, TVs, cameras, speakers, printers.

Honest limits

  • I can’t fix a provider outage, a damaged line in the street, or a plan that is too slow for how you use it. I can show you how to confirm that and what to ask the provider.
  • Walls, distance and interference have limits. Sometimes the honest answer is a wired connection or a mesh system, and I’ll say so before you buy anything.
  • I don’t run cable inside walls or drill. That’s a job for an installer or an electrician.
  • Equipment you buy is separate from my time, and you choose where to buy it.
  • I don’t promise a specific speed. Your plan and your provider set the ceiling.

If the real issue is the price you pay for the plan, see carrier bill renegotiation.

Questions

Answers before you book.

Should I buy a mesh system?

Maybe. Often a better router position or a wired link to the far side of the house is enough. I’ll test first and tell you what I’d do before you spend anything.

Can you set up the router my provider sent?

Yes. I’ll connect it, name the network, set a strong password, move your devices over, and write down what changed so you can reconnect something later.

Can you tell if someone is using my Wi‑Fi?

I can show you the list of connected devices, work out which are yours, and change the password if some aren’t. Most unfamiliar entries turn out to be your own TV, printer or a smart plug.

Can any of this be done by text?

Some of it. Quick questions, like where to place a router or how to restart the box, can go by text. Anything that needs eyes on the signal is better in person.

Where I do this
